Conference of dialogue in the multilingual sign

Last monday , May 9th, 2011 the President of the Alps-Adriatic Centre for Cross-border Co-operation (AACC) and of the Association of the Carinthian Slovenes and the Vice-mayor of the bilingual municipality Globasnitz, in Southern Carinthia, Bernard Sadovnik, organised a conference of dialogue, which was attended by high ranking representatitves of politics, economy and culture. At the discussion on theme „Multilinguality as a market advantage“ Claudia Mischensky, the
Head clerk of the Association of the Industrials in Carinthia, proposed an international school in Carinthia- due to the presence of numerous international co-workers. The entrepreneur Robert Rogner jr., marked the languages as an important instruments on the field of service activities. Since more and more guests are coming to Carinthia from the former East-European countries, he said :“If we want to accept them, we have to think how to create the market advantage, which Carintha has with its bilinguality.“ Vladimir Wakounig from the University of Klagenfurt, who is representing more linguistic initiatives, said: “They should not run only on the level of the civil society. It would be significant that they are not only a part of political retorics, but that they would obtain financial support, too.“ The Austrain President Heinz Fischer described bi/multilinguality as a cultural enrichment, which is also in professional life a big advantage. The conference of dialogue was visited also by high ranking representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina and by the Slovenian Minister Igor Lukšič. (Štukelj)

Geothermal heating
soon in Brda?

Recently a consultation was held in the premises of the municipality Brda, in Dobrovo, about the project of geothermal heating of the public buildings in the municipality.
The scheme of the geothermal bore plans the scooping of the thermal water in the limestone in the depth to 2.000 meters. The construction of the bore is designed in the way that it would be possible to drill in two steps: the making of the borehole to the depth of 800 meters and the deepening of the hole to the depth of 2000 meters. The expected temperature of the stones in the depth of 2. 000 meters is 42 degrees Celsius.
The basic aim is to provide the heating for bigger buildings in the area for which it is economic to be connected to the system. The connection of the private houses is in the first phasis not foreseen except in the case of serious interest and – of course- if the houses are directly at the heating conductions.
The participants of the conference were among others the State Secretary in the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Development and European Affairs mag. Andrea Jerina, the Mayor Franc Mužič, the representatives of the Agency for Energy Nova gorica and the members of the Alps-Adriatic Centre for Cross-border Co-operation in Klagenfurt (AACC) Bernard Sadovnik and mag. GAST 2011
in Klagenfurt- International trade fair

Daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. more than 500 exhibitors from 28 European countries exhibit their products at the International Trade Fair for foods&systems, equipment, machinery and devices for the hotel and catering trade. Also spirits are in the focus besides coffee, soft drinks, wine and beer . Competitions are held among the best cooks and serving personnel.
At the „Intervino“ fair , which is the biggest presentation of wines in the Alps-Adriatic region, the visitors can taste wines of more than 100 wine producers and merchants.
The fair is furthermore presenting the newest trends in catering. The Carinthian Chamber of commerce is presenting itself with the business lounge and the meeting point for the employees in tourism.
Professional seminars, lectures and various other events are rounding the rich platform of this year's fair, which will be open till March 23rd. (m.š)

Cross border social project

The discussions about the building of the Cross border Center for disabled in Globasnitz, which are going on for several months, showed their first progress.
The Country Counsellor and Official for Social affairs of Carinthia mag. Christian Ragger (/FPK), Bernard Sadovnik from the Alps-Adriatic Centre for Cross border Co-operation in Klagenfurt (AACC) and the Slovenian Minister of Labour, family and social affairs dr. Ivan Svetlik planned this project at their meeting last year.
Together with the Carinthian Caritas which will build and will be responsible for the Center also the high quality pedagogical accompaniment of the project is assured. The buliding is planned to start as soon as possible. The building site has already been bought and the projects are ready.
The Country Counsellor Christian Ragger: “The cross border social project in Globasnitz has a significant meaning for me. What is now nesessary is the obligatory acceptance of the places and the financing of certain number of places fron the Slovenian side. As the responsible person for this matter I stress the necessity that social projects are planned and calculated- as the projects in economy. Bernard Sadovnik is supporting this project, without his efforts all this would be much more difficult.“ (mš)

New Consul General visited AACC

The new Consul General of the Republic of Slovenia in Klagenfurt, Dragica Urtelj, visited the representatives of the Alps-Adriatic Centre for Cross-border Co-operation (AACC) in Klagenfurt on Friday, March 4th, 2011. The President Bernard Sadovnik and the Secretary-General Filip Warasch – together with the members of the Association of Slovenians in Carinthia (SKS) – informed Dragica Urtelj about the cross border activities of the Centre and expressed her their best wishes at her new working position.
